Since I LOVE pizza, I am always trying to find healthy alternatives to the standard pizza recipe. With the future hubby and I trying to stay in shape and get fit for our wedding day (ahh!), this recipe couldn’t have been more perfect. It contains barely any carbs (and the carbs it does contain are whole wheat), the cheese was “lite”, and instead of pizza sauce, we used organic tomato sauce. Enjoy folks, this one’s a keeper, especially if you have kids or a husband who love pizza!

Ingredients: (All can be purchased at Trader Joe’s) Serves as many as you want!

as many pieces whole wheat lavash flatbread as you want $1.99 (comes in a packet of 6!)
olive oil spray $2.99
1 can 15 oz. vine-ripened organic tomato sauce $1.49
1 cup lite shredded mozzarella (per lavash) $3.99
dried oregano
fresh basil $2.49

Process:

Preheat oven to 450°.
Spray lavash lightly with oil.
Top each lavash with a little less than 1/2 cup tomato sauce. Too much sauce will make the bread soggy so don’t over-do it.
Top each lavash with 1 cup cheese.
Sprinkle oregano on pizza.
Bake until the cheese melts ( 5 minutes).
Meanwhile, chop basil into thin vertical strips.
Remove from the oven and top with fresh basil.
Cut into 4 pieces with a pizza cutter.
