Fig It!

Start off your day the right way with healthy greens and a burst of protein. I have been using Sun Warrior Protein Powders in my smoothies for the last few months. They contain raw vegan protein and taste really good.

I also added some watermelon to this smoothie. My friend Kellie, from Allergy Free Foods (which happen to make the BEST allergen-free chicken tenders on the planet!), was just telling me about the anti-inflammation properties of watermelon. I’m having some arthritis issues so I am going to start paying attention to foods that will help me keep my inflammation issues under control. Let me know in the comments section what you have found to work for this:)

For this particular smoothie, I used Noosa Mango Yogurt. If you can digest dairy, this is a brand you MUST check out. For non-dairy yogurt, I generally use So Delicious.

This is not a frozen smoothie, but more of a thick drink. If you want it to be thicker or colder, add a few ice cubes or plan ahead and freeze the watermelon and grapes. Another great smoothie trick - pour your leftover smoothie into ice cube trays. Next time you need frozen fruit and don’t have any, pop in the “smoothie ice cube” for a cold treat.

1 really large handful baby spinach (I loosely fill half the blender jar)

1 small green apple, cored

1/2 cup green grapes

1 cup watermelon

1/2 cup milk (dairy, rice, soy, etc…)

1/4 cup yogurt (dairy or non-dairy)

1 scoop, Sun Warrior Vanilla Protein Powder
Blend together and pour into a large cup.
