Hermits are a type of cookie. The recipe can be found in many 19th century cookbooks and are still popular today. They were called Hermits because they kept well.

Victor Eremita was the pseudonymous editor of Kierkegaard’s book Either/Or. The name was Latin for Victorious Hermit.

Kierkegaard's childhood nickname was "The Fork." He was what we, presently, might colloquially call a "foodie"--and it seems quite fitting that someone nicknamed "The Fork" was not only a sharp devotee of his fellow human, but was also a food aficionado. He was nourished by both the food and the people that together comprised the dining experience.

We started the Kierkegaard Cookbook project as a way of celebrating Kierkegaard’s 200th birthday. We invite you to follow us on Pinterest and Twitter.
