For best results, start with a good brand of ham.
Ingredients:
Butt Portion Ham
Dark Brown Sugar
Whole Cloves
Dry Mustard
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Remove any skin from ham, and place in a baking dish.
Make diagonal cross hatches in the fat.
Rub fat with dry mustard, then insert a whole clove into the center of the cross hatches.
Pack dark brown sugar all over the top of the ham.
Place a small amount of water in the bottom of the baking pan, and place in oven uncovered for at least 1 hour (min).
Check frequently and baste with juices.
Ham is done when the fat has separated where cross hatched and there is a glaze over the top.
Let stand for about 15 minutes. Slice and serve.
